Welcome to the memorial page for

Angus Sherfield

October 3, 1927 ~ September 30, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

If when you give the best of your service,
Telling the world that the Savior is come;
Be not dismayed when men don't believe you;
He understands; and say, "Well done."
Oh when I come to the end of my journey,
Weary of life and the battle is won;
Carrying the staff and the cross of redemption,
He'll understand and say, "Well done."

Mr. Angus Sherfield was born in Red Bay, Florida on October 3, 1927, to the late and Samuel A. Sr. and Emma L. Hogans Sheffield.

Angus was preceded in death by his parents and eight of his siblings: Jacob Sheffield, Graham Sheffield, Rosby Sheffield, King S. Sheffield, Miemma Sheffield, Miami Earls, Peter Sheffield and Samuel A. Sheffield, Jr.; and two stepchildren: Shirley Oliver and Keith Oliver.

Angus was joined in Holy Matrimony to Louise Westmore.

Angus attended school in Walton County and graduated from Tivoli High School, the class of 1949. He was a member of the Tivoli High School football team. After he graduated from high school he was employed at Walton County Hospital (full-time) until the summer of 1952, where he was drafted into the United States Army after his graduation from boot camp in Columbia, South Carolina. He was transferred over seas to Germany where he served in the medical corp for two years. After being discharged from the Army, he then returned home to his old job at the Walton County Hospital. Within a few months he was called to service duty at Eglin Air Force Base and employed there as Boiler Technician until he retired in 1994.

Angus is survived by his wife, Louise Westmore Sherfield; stepchildren: Willie Wiggs, Jr. (Frail) and Ocleva Williams (Clarence) and Diane Harrison; sister: Etherine Sheffield Copeland; brother: Marion Sherfield (Yvonne); sister-in-law: Dollie J. Sheffield; special great granddaughter: Milani Ford; numerous step grandchildren, nieces, nephews other relatives, church family and friends.

Although we are saddened by his passing on Saturday, September 30, 2017, we rejoice in knowing that he’s in a land "where he'll never grow old." Farewell, Angus. You were tired and needed your rest. You were called forth by God, and your soul was truly blessed. We will not weep and mourn because we don't see you on this side anymore. We know that you'll be waiting to meet us on the other shore.
