Dr. Sherrell Reginald Wilkerson was born on August 6, 1957 to Henry Thomas and Mildred Thomas Wilkerson. He was the third child of this union.
Sherrell attended elementary, middle and high school in Walton County, where he was the first African American President of the Student Council, President of Key Club and Beta Club, quarterback of the winning Walton Braves team and graduated Valedictorian from Walton High School in 1975. He continued his formal education at The University of Florida, graduating in 1979 and proceeded on to; Doctor Scholl Podiatric Medical College in Chicago, Illinois where he earned his Doctors of Podiatric Medicine degree.
Being the ultimate ‘hometown’ boy, Sherrell returned home to begin what would be a 30-year career, – first opening an office in Panama City, and subsequently opened an office in Panama City Beach, Santa Rosa Beach and DeFuniak Springs. He was loved by ALL of his patients.
Sherrell was a faithful and active member of the Destin Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon and occasionally led song service.
Sherrell is survived by his devoted wife, Rose; children – Kristina Wilkerson (Tampa) and Reggie Wilkerson (California); his loving mom – Mildred Wilkerson, Ponce De Leon, FL; one brother: Jerrund Wilkerson (Connie), Roswell, GA; and sister Shelia (Brod) Grimes, Santa Rosa Beach, FL; three uncles – Lloyd (Carla) Platt, Acworth, GA; James Wilson, Charlotte, NC; Marco Wilson, Florala, AL; nieces and nephews: Kacee (Brad) Huguely, Alpharetta, GA; Lauren (Cliff) Decoster, El Paso, TX; Jay Wilkerson, Atlanta, GA; Tiffany (Bryan) Rand, Atlanta, GA; Trey Edmondson, Santa Rosa Beach, FL and Victoria Grimes, Washington, DC. and a host of cousins, family and friends.
