Mace Elvie Campbell

July 14, 1915 ~ July 7, 2016 (age 100) 100 Years Old

Mace Elvie Campbell (Daddy, PaPa, Granddaddy) was born on July 14, 1915 to Hannah Eunora Anderson Campbell and Christopher Johnson Campbell, who proceeded him in death.  He was the sixth child of thirteen born to that union.

He was a faithful member from an early age and served as Elder of Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, Euchee Valley, FL.

He graduated from Tivoli High School and was the oldest living graduate.  He furthered his education at Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, FL.

Mace married the love of his life, Trudie Marie (who proceeded him in death) and they were married for 76 years.  To this union, the ‘Notorious Nine’ were born.

His legacy will forever be cherished by his five loving daughters: Carolyn Collins, Anna Cogdell, Connie Wilkerson, Marsha Campbell McLendon, and Karan Campbell Everett; his four devoted sons: Durell Campbell, Clarence ‘Pete’ Campbell, Alfred Campbell, and Skip Campbell; a loving daughter-in-law, Thelma H. Campbell; two devoted sons-in-law: Dr. Leonard Everett and Dr. Jerrund Wilkerson; two sisters: Elsie Peppers (Jacksonville, FL), and Gwendolyn White (Palm Coast, FL); one sister-in-law, Lillian Campbell (DeFuniak Springs, FL);  seventeen grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and their families; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free?
Miss me a little, but not for long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love that once we shared
Miss me, but let me go.
For this is a journey we all must take
And each must go alone.
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home.
When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go the friends we know.
Laugh at all the things we used to do
Miss me, but let me go.
When I am dead my dearest
Sing no sad songs for me
Plant thou no roses at my head
Nor shady cypress tree
Be the green grass above me
With showers and dewdrops wet
And if thou wilt remember
And if thou wilt, forget.
I shall not see the shadows,
I shall not fear the rain;
I shall not hear the nightingale
Sing on as if in pain;
And dreaming through the twilight
That doth not rise nor set,
Haply I may remember,
And haply may forget.
