Benson Booth (BB) Campbell, Sr. was the 9th child born to, Mr. Patrick H. Campbell, Sr. and Mrs. Johnnie Mae Burks Campbell in Montgomery, Alabama on December 7, 1946. He departed life on August 16, 2019.
He attended Georgia Washington High School, Class of 1965. After high school he attended Tuskegee University, where he obtained his B.S. degree in Agriculture Business Education. He later attended Florida A&M University where he received his Masters Degree.
In 1966, He married his one true love on December 24th. After he graduated from Tuskegee University they moved to DeFuniak Springs, Florida.
In June of 1969 he started his life long career as an educator in the Walton County School District, DeFuniak Spring, FL, where he taught generations of families until he retired after 38 years. After retirement he enjoyed his days with church, family and sports.
He was a faithful and loyal member of Greater St. Joseph A.M.E. Church where he served many years as a Steward, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Church Treasurer, Class Leader and the Son’s of Allen. His favorite song by the church choir was “To Close to the Mirror”.
Benson Booth Campbell, Sr. (BB) was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Israel Campbell, Marvin Campbell and Charles Campbell.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 52 years, Mrs. Eldora O’Neal Campbell; his children: Benson B. Campbell, Jr. (Lesia), Solomon F. Campbell all of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Dana A. Campbell (Michelle) of Covington, Georgia and Lori M. Sinclair (Sean) of DeFuniak Springs, Florida; six grandchildren: Benson B. Campbell III, Dermesha Campbell, Shaquille Campbell, Gabrielle Campbell, Sydney Campbell (Sydney Joy) and Dana Campbell, Jr.; six brothers: Patrick Campbell, Jr., William Campbell (Shirley), Johnny Campbell (Margaret), Borrah Campbell and Joe Nathan Campbell (Joanne); 7 great-grandchildren and host cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends.
