Darnella (Blackstock) Worthington

Darnella (Manns Blackstock) Worthington, 90 years old of Crestview, Florida, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2017 at Silvercrest Health and Rehabilitation Center, (Crestview, FL).

Darnella was born July 14, 1927 in Leaksville now Eden, NC to the late Payton Sr. and Sallie Thompson Blackstock. She was educated in Leaksville, NC school system graduating from Douglas High School. Through her early years until adulthood she was a member of Springfield Baptist Church, Eden, NC. Darnella worked in N. Stonington Connecticut as a Certified Home Health Aide for many years.

Upon retirement she and her husband moved to Crestview Florida to enjoy the sunshine and golf. Upon moving to Crestview she became a member of Live Oak Baptist Church in Crestview, FL. Dot (as she was often called) was an active member of the Silver Saints sharing the gospel with her community. She also loved crafting, doing ceramics, macramé, knitting and quilting that she shared with family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years Vincent Worthington, parents Payton and Elizabeth Blackstock; Brother Payton Blackstock Jr and Sister Elizabeth Ann Blackstock Bond.

Darnella leaves daughters, Billie Jean Lewis (Jerome) of Crestview FL and Gloria Giggetts, (William) of Bridgeton, NJ, a sister Loretta Broadnax (Joe) of Eden, NC, four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild and a host of loving nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends to cherish in her memories.
