Mrs. Eldora O'neal Campbell, age 75, of DeFuniak Springs, Florida, widow of Benson "BB" Campbell, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 22, 2023.
Mrs. Campbell was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, to Jesse and Aggie O’Neal. Educated in Montgomery County, following high school graduation Eldora went on to attend Tuskegee Institute, now known as Tuskegee University, where she met future-husband, Benson “B.B.” Campbell, who she wed in 1966. After moving to DeFuniak Springs in 1969, Eldora connected with Greater St. Joseph African Methodist Church where she still works diligently in many areas including former YPD (youth) Director, Church School Teacher, Asst. Church School Superintendent, Secretary, Stewardess, and Usher. Eldora is the local Lay Organization President and the District Lay Assistant Secretary, as well as serving on the by-law and scholarship committees at the District Level. Eldora’s has a tenured career as a Social Worker with the State of Florida, including her focus on the areas within the Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services such as Juvenile Justin, Protective Services, Abuse and Neglect, and AFDC.
Eldora retired after 31 years of service to the State. She was a volunteer with numerous philanthropic and non-profit organizations including Guardian Ad Litem, Walton Community Health Center, Forward DeFuniak, WCHIP, Walton County Democratic Caucus of Florida, NAACP, and Pallbearers.
