Melenese Jackson Blackmon was a kindred spirit that was born October 25, 1963 in DeFuniak Springs. The oldest of three daughters born to Raymond and the late Odis Hogans Jackson, she entered into rest on February 23, 2014 at Covenant Hospice at Bay Medical Center, Panama City, FL.
She was a 1982 graduate of Walton High School and attended Gulf Coast Community College. She was a member of Mount Olive AME Church, Red Bay serving as YPD Director for 15 years. Additionally, she was Junior Choir Director, Adult Choir ember, Usher, Missionary and Stewardess. She was a member of the Independent Pallbearers Association.
Her smile, her kind heart, loving personality and caring spirit will truly be missed.
Melenese was an avid reader of the Herald Breeze newspaper. “She took great joy I being “informed”.
She is survived by her loving children: daughter, Crystal Hamilton and son, Rosheen Blackmon; devoted father, Raymond Jackson (Patricia); devoted sisters: Jaitha and Felicia Jackson; two loving nephews: Javon Johnson and Raymon Easley all of Defuniak Springs; two great aunts: Inez Baker Watson of Pensacola, FL and Mary Jane Andrews of Red Bay, FL; two loyal brothers: Al Jackson of DeFuniak Springs, FL and James Jackson (Sheila) of St. Petersburg, FL; one special sister: Linda Dean (Leonard) of Ebro, FL; one stepsister: Startoria Steven (James) of Gainesville, FL; one daughter-in-law: Jeana Blackmon; two grandsons: Donte and Harley Blackmon of DeFuniak Springs, FL; god brother: Eddie Williamson (Joyce) of Ponce De Leon, FL;
Funeral services were held at 12 noon, Saturday, February 22, 2014, at Mt. Olive AME Church, Red Bay, FL with the Reverend Delanor Myrick, Sr., pastor and the Reverend Phillip Russ IV officiating.
Burial was in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Red Bay, FL.
